Share Your Thoughts on a Cane Creek Park Trail Improvement Project

Unpaved trail at Cane Creek Park

The County invites you to do a brief survey to help enhance your future trips to Cane Creek Park. Our Grants Management team is preparing an application for a grant to pave about 0.47 miles of the existing natural-surface trail. This is a grant paid for by the federal government that the state is managing. Your response is a vital part of our application. Showing strong community support significantly increases our chances of success.

Project Details

  • Benefits: This project will improve accessibility, safety, and your overall experience.
  • Funding: The County is seeking a grant that would cover 75 percent of the total project costs. The County is responsible for a 25% match as part of the grant requirements, which is why the grant does not fund the entire project.
  • Location: We plan to pave the trail section that runs just below Shelter #2 and will extend to the gazebo. The current portion of the trail that is paved forms a loop connecting Shelters #1 and #2, as well as the picnic pads throughout the area. The paved trail ends just below Shelter #2.
  • Minimal Impact: Because the trail already exists, there will be little to no environmental impact.
  • Safety: People who cannot use the natural trail have to share the road with vehicles, which can be hazardous. Paving the trail would make it safe and easy for everyone to reach park areas.
